The Capricorns - Pure Magical Love
The Capricorns
Heather Lynn - vocals, keys Kirsten - keys, vocals

The Capricorns are an amazing synthesiser duo from Chicago, Illinois (though both of them have lived all over the states). I actually stayed with Kirsten this summer because she was nice enough to put my boyfriend and I up for a couple nights. This is one of their latest songs and the title of their yet to be released 4th album. Their previous 2, In the Zone (which is amazing!) and Go the Distance! are available at www.paroxysm.com and www.banazan.com. Their first album, The Capricorns are Gonna Get You, which I believe was only released on tape is permanently out of print. They are touring all over the USA this winter starting Dec 28 in Indianapolis and wrapping up in Denton, Texas on Jan 21. For the in between dates and to listen to more songs check their Myspace page out!

Channels 3&4 - The Queen
Channels 3&4
Sarah - vox Nic - drums Jesse - moog

No guitar!! Everyone and their mother seems to be in a keyboard / drums band. I was in one of the first back in 1999 when I started the Ewoks with my best friend Jenny. Now we've got Les Georges Leningrad and Channels belting it out. But Channels 3&4 is the only band to ever cover the Ewoks and sight us as their number one influence. All the Ewoks did was rip off Thee Goblins so it's not like we were even original. These guys are total stoners, if you ever book a show for them count on them turning up late, but they are sheer madness and the kids love them. Seriously, I have never heard anyone bad mouth them.

My Barbarian - Dance You Witches Dance
My Barbarian

I don't even really know anything about this band. I overheard some music coming out of my flatmate Paul's room, I rushed into his room to find out what he was listening to and he proclaimed "My Barbarian! Check out my myspace!" So I did and found this was the song he was listening too. They are some sort of performance art/band/theatre troop/video artists of some sort. No idea really. Just check out their site.

Echo Kitty - Super Matos
Echo Kitty
Serge Mustang - guitar Xavier Paradis - vox Sabio Palmarella - synthesizer

Years ago my friend came home from tour with a mini pink CD by a French Canadian band named Echo Kitty since that moment I have been a fan of these boys. It's been a few more years and they have put out a full length album on Neon Magazine which is a micro-label lodging multiple demonstrations of electro-pop'n'roll and outsider rock. www.alterflow.com/neon. I still haven't seen them play but I would pee my pants if they came to London. Their web site is mostly in French but they have English translations of the Bio and such. www.echokitty.com

El Guapo - Glass House
El Guapo
Peter Cafarella - accordion, keyboard, vocals Rafael Cohen - guitar, vocals Justin Moyer - drums, vocals

Now known as Super System they changed their name because of another band with the same name. Also according to their web site they never really liked the name anyway. This song is from their Fake French record which came out in 2003 on Dischord.

Hexes and Ohs - Whaddya Know
Hexes and Ohs
Edmund Lam - vocals, everything Heidi Donnelly - vocals, everything

Yep, they are a couple and they write catchy synth pop. Hailing from Montreal, they apparently have been playing music in bands for 10 years but they don't look that old! This song is from their debut album Goodbye Friend, Hello Lover on Noise Factory Records (Spring 2005).
