Zom Zoms - Yellow Rainbow
Zom Zoms
Chad A - drums Seth Nemec - dual synth/vox Philip Philmapster - dual synth/vox Zom Philmapster - guitar/vox

From Austin, TX, this is from their album Yellow Rainbow out on Business Deal. Drummer, Chad A, was the first random I ever met over myspace… back in 2003 when there weren’t many of us on there. He made me a new wave mix tape of random unknown synth bands and I made him one of Canadian stuff he wouldn’t know. I also told him I would possibly marry him one day as he was looking for a lady with an EU Passport to marry. To this day we still haven’t met but one day I will venture to Texas. We do have mutual friends in “real” life so it’s not purely internet connections.

Crystal Castles - xxzxczx
Crystal Castles
Girl - vox Boy bass/vox

Boy / girl duo from the T-dot. Literally sounds like yr in a video game. I saw these guys at Club Howl the other week. Shoreditch night. They had already played Trash and Bardens that week and been proper hyped. All the reports I heard back from people were that they sucked. Which is pretty harsh. I quiet enjoyed them especially during their last song which is all just backing track and the girl just goes into the audience and dances for about 5 mins trying to encourage everyone to dance… a good band to have on before you come on with yr dj set.
It’s really random these days how unknown Canadian bands can get hyped up in London. I’m just worried about the day when it becomes passé to be Canadian. I’ll have to work on changing my angle when that day happens.

Pre - Ace Cock
Pre
Akiko - vox Rick - drums Kevin - bass John - guitar Matt - bass

Akiko from Comanechi's band... where she sings. The best thing about Pre is that Akiko only ever wears pants on stage! (undies for North Americans) even if you don’t fancy girls, like me, it’s still really cute to see a small Asian girl dance around in her undies and scream.

Neil's Children - Something You Say
Neil's Children
JOHN LINGER Q.C. - vox/guitar/synth BRANDON JACOBS LTD. - drums/backing vox KEITH SEYMOUR MD. - bass

2 years ago I drunkenly made out with the bass player in this band… since then they’ve gotten a new bass player and gone from black to blonde.

Scissors for Lefty - Ghetto Ways
Scissors for Lefty
Bryan Garza - vox/guitar Peter Krimmel - keys/guitar James Krimmel - bass/drums Robby Garza - guitar/drums

Bay area band recently (as in last few months) signed to Rough Trade in the UK. Are they actually 2 sets of brothers? Someone tell me. I feel like I miss out on the family band thing being an only child. Sniff.

Career Suicide - Out of the Fray
Career Suicide
Martin Farkas - vox Jonah Falco - guitar

The first time I ever went to Toronto (which was 2000) I stayed at Martin Farkas’ parents house. It was sooo hot and there were like 4 of us sleeping in his bedroom. I've been back to the T-dot roughly 15 times since so it didn't put me off or anything. End of story.
