Ninja Highschool - NHS Is Gonna Rock You!
Ninja Highschool

Every time I see NHS (Ninja High School) I can't help but think of the National Health Service. However, this is something all together different, NHS is self-described as a positive hardcore, dance-rap band from Toronto.

No Dynamics - Josephine Baker
No Dynamics
Yama Indra - vox/synth Simon Parker - drums Daniel Vila - guitar Tim Sullivan - vox/bass

I have a funny story about how I met Daniel Vila. Years ago he wrote the meanest review EVER of my old band in Vice and we kept it in our press release because it was so bad it was so funny. A couple years later I met him in Toronto at a Mooney Suzuki house party and he remembered me from said band. We became friends and about a year later I realised he was the dude, who wrote our meanest review! He tried to keep it secret from me. But I found out! It was ok though, because he once wrote a review of one of my other bands and said I was "the cutest motherfucker in Canadian rock'n'roll" which I took as a HUGE compliment. Anyway, this is his band No Dynamics. They have a 12" EP that this song is from.

Interview with Jay Ferguson
Jay

Nicest boy in Canadian Rock.

Sloan - Dirty Nails
Sloan
Chris - bass/vox Jay - guitar/vox Patrick - guitar/vox Andrew - drums/vox

Sloan have been around for 15 years or something insane. They were once on David Geffen records. The only BIG-ish Canadian rock band that is cool for the indie kids to like. This is their cover of a Pony Da Look song. I first saw them when I was 13 and I last saw them play a few months ago. That makes it 12 years that I have been going to see Sloan play... pathetic no?

Gentleman Reg - It's Not Safe
Gentleman Reg
Reg - vox/guitar

Jay recommends this song as he plays guitar on it and Reg used to be one of his neighbours. The first time Reg came over to London on tour I let him sleep on my bedroom floor for a week and we had girlie sleepovers where we stayed up gossiping about boys and such. He happens to be a member of The Hidden Cameras, and is also the only albino I have ever known... which is quite impressive.
