February 4 // Long Blondes // The Spitz

Long Blondes

I'm going to try and post pics up here of gigs and such things I go to... so get ready for more updates coming soon!

Long Blondes

I went to the Spitz on Saturday to catch the Long Blondes and Neils Children. The show was "sold out" in advance but really it was quite roomy inside. I was worried as I'm quite short I didn't think I'd be able to see anything let alone take pictures! So I was very happy for the space. It was my first time seeing Neils Children though I've liked them since 2004. They have a new bass player as of January who is quite fit. What happened to the last guy though? James? He was the only one I sort of knew in the band. The singer has blonde hair now which doesn't quite suit him as much as the black. Also, he was wearing EXTREMELY tapered black jeans which were practically like spandex. Ok, here's some fashion advice boys... tight jeans are hot but not so tight it looks like spandex and yr legs look like a woman's. Girls like effeminate but there is a limit! This is turning into more of a fashion review than about the music but hey, when you play in a band that plays gigs image is almost as important as the music. Some people will say that's dumb and that's probably true but there's nothing you can do about it. Ask Madonna, we live in a material world.

Long Blondes

The Long Blondes know about fashion, the girls are sporting hi-heels and vintage dresses and a skirt (the lads are in tight jeans but not the spandex variety!). They are a well-dressed band. The music is great too. Seperated By Motorways and Giddy Stratospheres got the whole floor bobbing and dancing. When is the album happening? I have not a bad word to say about this band. They are simply wonderful. Let 2006 see the Long Blondes touring out of Britain more. We need to start sharing them with the rest of the world.

Please someone buy this guy some new shoes. It's cold outside!
